Farm Marwil, near Hochfeld in Namibia, is primarily a cattle farm. We own the land and raise Bonsmara cattle and calves, with a particular focus on young animals.
Looking after the herd means looking after its grazing. The condition of the land shapes the work we do each day and the decisions we make for the farm’s future.
WOODBOS grew from that working farm. We started with firewood in 2024, finding a use for suitable dry wood while keeping the needs of the land and cattle in view.
Our firewood includes Kameeldoring, Sekelbos and Swaarthaak. We use naturally dead or long-dried wood, selecting material for its intended use.
Dense encroaching bush can crowd out grass and reduce the land available for cattle. Our bush-management work is intended to improve grazing and put suitable woody material to use.
We take a selective approach. The trees we retain, the recovery of the land and grazing management after harvesting all matter. Clearing every tree is not the aim.
We assess the wood for an appropriate use, with firewood as our starting point and charcoal and wood chips in development.

NAMIBIA’S BIOMASS
Why bush management matters.
This short Namibian film explains bush encroachment and the opportunities to use woody biomass.
An independent sector film, not footage of WOODBOS or an endorsement of our business.
We are developing kiln-produced acacia charcoal, targeting 40 mm+ premium BBQ grade, and preparing to supply wood chips.
These are new areas of the business. We welcome enquiries while development continues and will confirm product specifications and availability with each buyer.
We welcome buyers worldwide. Custom branding and bag sizes, export documents and overseas shipping can be discussed for your order.
